Covesea Golf LinksWelcome to the epitome of off beat Scottish golf.

Things Covesea doesn’t have:

🏠 A proper clubhouse
💰 A big green fee (it’s £10)
🖼 Perfect manicuring

Things it does have:

Charm, character, quirk, fun and a dash of just about everything that makes Scottish golf the greatest in the world.

The 9 holes at Covesea (pronounced Cow-see) was one of my favourite finds of the first leg of the tour. Halfway between Hopeman and Lossiemouth, there’s a nondescript turning from the main road. As you wind down an unmade road a scruffy area of hardstanding comes into view. A few cars, a large green shed and a static caravan - serving as clubhouse/office.

It’s a mad little routing - pure, ‘no frills’ entertainment. Unbridled by convention, this privately owned links was a true highlight. It had the feel of a ‘backyard’ golf course - but only if your backyard is a links playground of the highest order.

I’d rather play it than many better known courses.
